Senior Spotlight
For this week’s senior spotlight, we are featuring Michael Rupp. Michael lives in Cleghorn with his Mom: Michelle, and siblings: Allissa, Morgan, Addie, and Sadie. Michael has been involved in a multitude of different activities throughout his high school career. In football he lettered three times, and in archery he lettered four times. He also participated in track, where he lettered four times, baseball where he lettered once, speech where he lettered three times as well as lettering in Large Group All State Speech, and Individual All State Speech. Michael was also involved in Skills USA for four years, and The Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Some of Michael’s favorite memories from high school include competing in All-State Individual Speech, and working at Hidden Acres Christian Center over the summer. Some things Michael likes to do outside of school is playing sports, reading, and playing video games. Some advice Michael would like to give to the underclassmen is that not everyone has to like you. Be kind to everyone, but do not change who you are for the approval of others. Some jobs Michael had throughout high school include working as a Camp Counselor at Hidden Acres, a farmhand at Steve Nelson’s farm, and Pizza Ranch. Michael’s favorite school lunch is none of them, as he prefers to eat at Casey’s. Michael’s greatest accomplishments in high school are winning the Rudy Award in football, and hanging two speech banners on Mr. Wimmer’s wall. Michael’s biggest pet peeve is when people feel the need to cuss in every sentence they say. Michael’s favorite song is How Great is our God, by Chris Tomlin, his favorite movie is Cars, and his favorite show is Longmire. Michael’s greatest fear is that of heights. His favorite year of high school is sophomore year, because Covid cut that year short, which gave Michael lots of time to hang out with his friends. What Michael plans to do next year is attend Emmaus Bible College for a one year Biblical Certificate. Something Michael hopes to accomplish in life is to work as a youth pastor, or counselor in a church or Christian camp. After Michael leaves high school, he would like to be remembered as a positive role model who led by example.
