There was NO prom in 2020 because of COVID-19. Then 2021 came and because the virus was supposedly under control, there was a prom. Now it is 2022 and things seem to be getting back to normal and there was a prom.
The Grand March was at 7 o ‘clock but doors were open at 6:30 for those wanting to get a good seat. At 6 o’clock, people were going into the school but not allowed in the gym until 6:30. I willing waited hoping for once I could get a seat that all the others weren’t already “reserved”.
It cost $3 (to go toward scholarships) and I quickly put mine down and headed for the stage. I found a good seat and it was good until about 10 minutes before 7 o’clock, someone came and sat on the stage in the spot I needed to take pictures. Steve exchanged places with me and I could get some pictures without a head or part of a person in on it.
The relatives and friends were more than on hand to see these young people dressed up. There were three long rows of chairs set up on the gym floor adjacent to the stage for people to sit on. There was a red carpet coming down the middle from the side opposite the stage. The carpet ended up going to the right as the couple came. People in that area could take pictures. Then the couple turned and walked to the left for people to take pictures and then exited. There was a stairway on the side leading to the middle (not used). There was a gambling booth on the last side the couple stopped and posed for. It let us know that this was a 2022 Casino Royale site.
Mr. Youde was the Master of Ceremonies. First to enter was Junior Class President, Belle Olson escorted by Kamden Steffen. Senior Class President, Emily Dreckman was escorted by Gunnar Johnson. Junior Class Rep, Hannah Neddermeyer was escorted by Josh Wetter. Junior Class Rep, Ella Ruba was escorted by Nathan Harvey. Junior Class Rep, Emma Reuter was escorted by Branden Whited. Senior Class Rep, Taylor Harpenau was escorted by Wesley Galles. Senior Class Rep, Ellie Hilbrands was escorted by Kyler Bork. Senior Class Rep, Ellie Reuter was escorted by Eban Hicks.
Now it was time for the Juniors to do the “Walk”. Kora Alesch was escorted by Andrew Barinsky. Owen Alesch escorted Alyson Ball. Josh Armfield escorted Hope Russell. Then it was time to have the Prom Court come forward. Vying for King and Queen for 2022 Prom were: Emily Dreckman, Taylor Harpenau, and Regan Peters. For King were Brenin Stodden, Nathan Harvey, and Eban Hicks.
And the King for 2022 Prom is….Nathan Harvey! Queen for 2022 Prom is Emily Dreckman!
Now is the part that I wish someone could fix for next year’s prom. As soon as the King and Queen are announced, the whole group breaks up and basically no one gets a picture of the King and Queen together. Emily was at the very end of the line and in a dark area while the King was at the other end_never together. As I left the stage I saw the King at the very end of the dance floor and never did see Emily. Once the King and Queen are announced, people flock to the gym and it is impossible to get any pictures.
