“Two MMCRU boys win State Free Throw Championships”

On Sunday March 27th two boys from Remsen traveled to Boone IA and became State Champions at the annual Knights of Columbus State Free Throw Competition. Eli Harpenau won 1st place in the 13 year old division and Kamden Bork won 1st place in the 14 year old division. Boys and girls came to Boone from all parts of the state to compete. Harpenau and Bork had both won 1st place at their local competition in Marcus before advancing to Cherokee for the second round where they also claimed 1st place finishes. After Cherokee both boys advanced to the regional rounds which were held March 6th at Le Mars Gehlen, again both won 1st place, qualifying them for the State event in Boone. Both boys handled the pressures in the gym at State, coming out on top once again, both boys beating out 6 other shooters to claim 1st place in their age divisions. The Knights of Columbus free throw contest has both boys and girls divisions for ages 9-14. Eli is the son of Eric and Terra Harpenau and Kamden is the son of Shane and Taylor Bork. Eli is currently a 7th grader at MMCRU and Kamden is an 8th grader at MMCRU. Congratulations!
