This week’s Staff Spotlight is Mr. Nick Long. He teaches 9-12 Industrial Technology in the MMCRU high school. This is his 7th year teaching. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He moved to Owatonna, Minnesota when he was 5 and lived there for five years. When he was 10 he moved to South Sioux City, Nebraska and that is where he graduated high school. He attended Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska. He wanted to be a teacher because “I enjoyed taking high school shop classes with my teacher and he gave me the idea.”
What he likes about teaching most is ”Watching and helping students complete difficult projects that they didn’t think they could.” Advice for his students is “Don’t be afraid of a challenging project.” Something that he wishes someone would have told him in high school is “Go out for more activities.”
