NOTICE OF PROBATE OF WILL, OR APPOINTMENT OF EXECUTOR, AND NOTICE TO CREDITORS
To All Persons Interested in the Estate of Jeanette L. Schuetz, Deceased, who died on or about November 22, 2021:
You are hereby notified that on December 15, 2021, the last will and testament of Jeanette L. Schuetz, deceased, bearing date of June 9, 1999, was admitted to probate in the above named court and that Steven Schuetz was appointed executor of the estate. Any action to set aside the will must be brought in the district court of said county within the later to occur of four months from the date of the second publication of this notice or one month from the date of mailing of this notice to all heirs of the decedent and devisees under the will whose identities are reasonably ascertainable, or thereafter be forever barred.
Notice is further given that all persons indebted to the estate are requested to make immediate payment to the undersign, and creditors having claims against the estate shall file them with the clerk of the above named district court, as provided by law, duly authenticated, for allowance, and unless so filed by the later to occur of four months from the date of the second publication of this notice or one month from the date of mailing of this notice (unless otherwise allowed or paid) a claim is thereafter forever barred.

Cherokee County Board of Supervisors Meeting
The Cherokee County Board of Supervisors met in regular session on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 with Gary Lundquist, Bryan Petersen, Rick Mongan, and Duane Mummert present. Wane Miller joined via telephone. There were no representatives from the press. Sarah Tracy and Justin Pritts were also in attendance. Unless otherwise indicated, all votes were offered as follows: Ayes – Mongan, Petersen, Mummert, Miller, Lundquist; Nayes – none; Abstentions – none.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Chairman Lundquist.
Motion by Mongan, seconded by Petersen to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Motion by Mummert, seconded by Miller to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Motion carried.
Motion by Mummert, seconded by Petersen to open a public hearing for the proposed Voting Precinct Boundaries. Roll call vote: Mongan-aye, Petersen-aye, Mummert-aye, Miller-aye, Lundquist-aye. Motion carried. Chairman Lundquist asked for comments from the public.
Hearing no comments from the public, a motion was made by Mummert, seconded by Mongan to close the public hearing at 9:02 a.m. Roll call vote: Mongan-aye, Petersen-aye, Mummert-aye, Miller-aye, Lundquist-aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Petersen, seconded by Mongan to adopt the Cherokee County Voting Precinct Plan and authorize the chairman to sign the Cherokee County Reprecincting Worksheet. Motion carried.
Motion by Mongan, seconded by Mummert to approve a Memorandum of Agreement with the City of Cherokee to comply with 2020 Census Blocks for the purpose of Reprecincting Boundaries. Motion carried.
Chairman Lundquist read a summary of a proposed Cherokee County Voting Precincts Ordinance as published with full copies of the ordinance available to those in attendance.
Motion by Mongan, seconded by Miller to approve the first reading of the Cherokee County Voting Precincts Ordinance #2021-06. Roll call vote: Mongan-aye, Petersen-aye, Mummert-aye, Miller-aye, Lundquist-aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Mummert, seconded by Petersen to waive the second and third readings of the Cherokee County Voting Precincts Ordinance #2021-06. Roll call vote: Mongan-aye, Petersen-aye, Mummert-aye, Miller-aye, Lundquist-aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Mongan, seconded by Petersen to adopt the Cherokee County Voting Precincts Ordinance #2021-06 as written. Roll call vote: Mongan-aye, Petersen-aye, Mummert-aye, Miller-aye, Lundquist-aye. Motion carried and ordinance adopted.
Ramona Nitz, Russ Winterhof and Nick Livermore represented the Cherokee County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), and provided an informative presentation on potential grant funds available for flood mitigation on Railroad Creek. The Board of Supervisors provides an annual allocation of $15,000 to SWCD for a technician working on county projects, therefore, no additional funds will be requested for this new grant project. Livermore provided details about the 850 acres of watershed area of Railroad Creek with a goal of achieving sufficient temporary water storage through the use of pastureland and structures to mitigate flood damages downstream. The supervisors thanked the SWCD Directors for continuing their efforts in flood mitigation and support this cooperative effort as it could lead to projects on other waterways in the region.
Motion by Mummert, seconded by Mongan to approve a two-year contract with SilverStone Group for actuarial services to comply with Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) 75 including reporting requirements of Other Post Employment Benefits (OPEB). Motion carried.
Motion by Petersen, seconded by Mongan to approve a “Cherokee County Provider and Program Participation Agreement” for fiscal year 2022 county funding of covered services provided by the Washta Public Library for the benefit of Cherokee County citizens and individuals. Motion carried.
The supervisors provided committee reports and reviewed meeting schedules.
Lundquist called for comments from the public. Sarah Tracy, County Engineer, reported on the annual Engineer’s Conference that she and her assistant recently attended. Justin Pritts, Emergency Management Coordinator, provided an overview of citizen and volunteer response to recent tornado events in Cherokee County.
There being no further business, Chairman Lundquist adjourned the meeting at 10:44 a.m.
