It seemed a little early for a Christmas Concert on December 6, but when these have to fit in with other concerts, ball games, etc. sometimes there isn’t any choice!
It was time for the Middle School at Remsen to show their talent in band and vocal music! The Fifth Grade Choir opened the concert with “Sparklejollytwinklejingly”. Wow! What a name for a song! There were many wrapped boxes on the floor in front of the students. When the song was finished, the kids opened them up and went to the audience and distributed the Christmas tinsel from the boxes. More than one person ended up with tinsel around their neck!
The following students are in Fifth Grade Choir: Garrett Alesch, Gavin Alesch, Kaysen Ankenman, Laiken Bork, Jayda Decker, Ava Frederick, Katie Haaven, Trenton Hageman, TJ Hermanson, Gabby Johnson, Casaeda Jones, Colt Krier, Chloe Martinez, Ashley Mouser, Charlie Murray, Lilly Olson, Neysi Perez, Samantha Peterson, Bentley Reek, Aubrey Specht, Faith Spenner, Thelsalynn Stephen, Gianna Stevens, and Kaydence Stites.
Now the Fifth Grade Band took to their chairs to play, “Whole in One, Twice As Nice, Stair Steps, Not Cross Buns!” Fifth Grade Band members are Flutes-Jayda Decker, Katie Haaven, Casaeda Jones, Chloe Martinez, Celia Shea, and Kaydence Stites. Clarinets-Laiken Bork, Ava Frederick, Samantha Peterson, Jorja Reginnitter, and Faith Spenner. Saxophones-Amaya Gengler, Charlie Murray, Lilly Olson, and Ethan Steffen. Trumpets-Gavin Alesch, Rebekah Casson, Ashley Mouser, Neysi Perez, Bentley Reed, and Emmett Rupp. Trombones_Garrett Alesch, Jagger Becker, Owen Erickson, and Trenton Hageman. Percussion Colton Heubrock and Nora Sanow.
The Sixth Grade Choir arrived on the risers with colorful wrap around their necks. Their song was, “Mele kalikiMaka!” They could say this as if it was an everyday word! Sixth Grade Choir members are: Jeff Braun, Peyton Busch, Taya Delperdang, Rachel Doellinger, Kyndell Freeman, Kinzie Glassmaker, Taya Grage, Willow Hageman, Samantha Hill, Angelique Hurtado, Carter Jungers, Cooper Loutsch, Madison Lowden, Thomas McKinney, Carson Meyer, Brayden Miller.
Rylee Nissen-Teepe, Andrew Peterson, Tenleigh Porter, Logan Regennitter, Marissa Rojas, Benjamin Ross, Cody Schmillen, Aiden Shea, Hailey Staab, Raya Staab, Brady Tentinger, Gracie Todd, Tori Treinen, and Caleb Wurth.
With vocal music in the background, the Sixth Grade Band accompanied with, “O Come, All Ye Faithful”, then moved on to, “We Three Kings”, and completed with “Up On the Housetop”.(With a lot of Ho!, Ho!, Ho!’s.)
Sixth Grade Band members are Flutes_Anna Arduini, and Adelynn Ruskamp. Clarinets-Rachel Doellinger, Izabella Hodgins, Bailey Ross, and Ashley Wetter. Trombones_Nolan Carver, Charles Easton, and Owen Lennon. Isaac Astidias and Macey Heubrock played Trumpets. Percussion-Behr Carey, Ayden Miller, Cody Schmillen, Mick Schnepf, and Peter Stevick. Gunnar Durkee plays Baritone.
The Seventh and Eighth Grade Choir took the audience on a road trip. Their song was, “A Holiday Road”. Seventh and Eighth Grade Choir members are: Paula Bautista, Emma Erickson, Lauren Galles, Alexis Gotto, Destiny Gunsolly, Isabella Loutsch, Christian Lowden, Katie Merryfield, Brea Nicks, Brianna Schuetz, Joenson Stephen, Dylan Stevens, Tessa Weiler, and Sadie Youde.
The Seventh and Eighth Grade Band members took to the chairs with, “Yo Christmas Tree!”. Have you heard about the runaway sleigh? Well, we did as they sang, “The Runaway Sleigh”. They concluded with drums beating and announcing, “A Christmas Proclamation”. This song had many Christmas songs intermingled in it.

Clarinets-Maddy Anderson, Aubrey Dirks, Ella Draper, Kaiya Freeman, Annika Juhl, Halee Lesline, Brea Nicks, Alyvia Olson, and Morgan Rupp. Saxophone-Boston Colling, Brayden Dunn, and Dylan Stevens. Trumpets-Luke Kintigh, Tommy Koontz, Jasper Lahouti, Brielle Lux, Elli Molzen, Joshua Peterson, John Schmillen, and Jesse Schneider. Baritone player is Rylee Smith. Tubas-Mason Carver and Aaron Letsche. Trombones-Carter Astidias, Josh Doellinger, Michael Schmillen, and Carsten Schrooten. Percussion-Sophia Etter, Karsen Galles, Cayben Olson, Christopher Rojas, and Gracie Schroeder.
The conclusion of the Middle School Band and Choir Concert was a Combined Choir of Fifth-Eighth Choir members as they sang, “Ding a Ding a Ding”. As usual, these student showed the talent they have for music!

Upcoming event in December is the MMCRU High School Concert on Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Marcus gym.
