Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will host “On Their Own & Ok” Wednesday, Nov. 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the ISU Extension and Outreach office in Cherokee.
The program is open to 4th through 6th graders and covers concepts related to staying safe while home alone.
“’On Their Own & Ok’ gives kids a chance to explore how they may begin to stay home safely on their own for short periods of time,” said Debbie Erpelding, Cherokee County Youth Coordinator with ISU Extension and Outreach, who will host the program.
Erpelding said the program will focus on:
Recognizing ways to safely fill one’s time while home alone
Healthy and safe snack options when home alone
Safety guidelines and emergency preparedness when home alone
The program is open to any current 4th through 6th grade youth. Registration fee is $5, which covers all materials and direct program expenses. Preregistration is required so adequate materials can be prepared. Preregister to Jen or Debbie at 712-225-6196 or stop in at the ISU Extension and Outreach Cherokee County office located at 209 Centennial Drive in Cherokee.
