MMCRU got back to work Wednesday night. The number 5 team in the War Eagle beat the Mustangs of George-Little Rock 3-0 Monday in Marcus, and faced the South O’Brien Wolverines just two days later. The Wolverines were victorious in round one against the Panthers of Storm Lake St. Marys. The Royals beat South O’Brien three weeks ago in Paulina by a score of 3-1.
The Royals were the heavy favorites going into the night, but South O’Brien came to play. The Wolverines hung with the Royals in all 3 sets, losing 25-19, 25-22, and 25-19. Senior Lydia Hustedt led the way for the Wolverines with 12 kills. Senior Riley Draper picked up 23 assists. Seniors Dreckman and Hilbrands led the way for the Royals with 14 kills each.
The Royals will face Gehlen Catholic Monday in LeMars. The Jays beat the Royals 3-1 in their regular season matchup. Gehlen is listed as the number 2 team in the War Eagle Conference, just behind Unity Christian.
