Alice S. Wittkop, age 94 of Marcus, IA, passed away Monday, September 6, 2021, at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 10, 2021, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus. Father Tim Pick will officiate. Burial will be at Holy Name Catholic Cemetery in Marcus. Visitation will be held one hour prior at the church. The Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Marcus is assisting the family with arrangements. Alice Stephania (Hodapp) Wittkop was born on January 9, 1927, to Otto and Charlotte (Full) Hodapp, in Granville, IA. She graduated from Spalding Catholic High School.
On October 5, 1948, she was united in marriage to Irvin John Wittkop in Granville, IA. Irv and Alice farmed south of Marcus until Irv’s passing on November 3, 1972. After his death, she was employed at the Marcus Vet Clinic until her retirement.
In retirement, she enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and going to her grandchildren’s activities. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and the Ladies Missionary Society.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Charlotte; eight siblings, Elaine Callahan, Conrad Hodapp, Germaine Hodapp, Otto Hodapp, Marjorie Bergeson, Joan Mullin, Georgia Croat, and Wilfred Hodapp; her husband Irvin; her son, Irvin, Jr.; grandson, Jonathan Nelson; granddaughter, Charlie Anne Nelson; and great-granddaughter, Samantha Ann Estrada.
She will lovingly be remembered by her children; Pam Ann (Dennis) Husman, Duane Irvin (Bonny) Wittkop, Paula Ann (Brian) Nelson, and Penni Ann (Steve) Bryant; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
