Marcus Benefits From American Relief Funds

The first part of American Relief Funds of $78,535.47 will be coming to Marcus sometime in the next two weeks. Part two of these funds will be received in one year. In the next five years, these funds have to be used. The mayor has requested a new quote from Visu-Sewer to reline the sewers by using these funds.
Belinda Leavitt, representative of Little Royals Daycare, asked the Council for their $5,000 donation now before the Daycare is built. She stated that they need funds now to continue with their start up. Her request was approved by the Council.
Denny Horstman was approved to be on the Board of Adjustments.
Also approved by the Council was the IMCA Worker’s Comp.
Approved was Res 21-37_“Resolution Transferring Funds”. The Res 21-38, “Resolution Approving Lease with T & M Aviation” was approved by the Council.
The State is giving each city in Iowa computers from CARES funds of $9,500. Computers have been ordered and will be in Marcus in November.
The person that had asked to check out the house on East Cedar Street, has decided not to be interested in it. There are some things in this house that Doug Dreckman asked the Council if there could be a garage sale. The Council decided that no items would be sold separately from this house. If anyone is interested in the property, they can give the city a proposal.
The proposed street repairs will be done by Blacktop Services in late August or the first of September. Now one of the sewer pumps isn’t working and could it be replaced with some of this American Relief Funds that Marcus will be receiving? There are also more valve shut-offs that will be installed this year. The additional valves need to be determined as the cost of them is going up in the next few weeks.
A Proclamation of the Sesquicentennial celebration was issued by Mayor Hansen.
There was no Police report as Brian was at the scene of the grain bin on Railroad Street where two employees of FCA were trapped.
