Sesquicentennial Queen and King Nominees
Bonnie Means was nominated because of her excellent volunteerism in the community and church.
Bonnie Collins was nominated because she is a life long resident of Marcus. She worked most of her adult life at Farmer’s State Bank as a valued employee and grew up showing cattle at the Marcus Fair with her sibling, Chuck Simons. Bonnie’s family was and still is involved in the fair for many generations.
Vickie Rainboth was nominated for her dedicated work at the school for several years and for being active in various community events throughout the years. She raised her family here with pride.
Julie Sand has resided in Marcus her whole life and she and her late husband, Chuck Simons, were both active on the fair board for several terms. Julie did a large amount of planning 25 years ago for the Quasquicentennial and continues to show her pride in Marcus by attending sporting events and helping at the Historical Society. She also worked several years at Marcus Lumber where many people valued her kindness and loyalty.
Sharon Rupp spent several years on the Marcus Fair Board and also helped with the Quasquicentennial planning. Sharon was very dedicated to her position on the fair board and to making Marcus a great community.
Ric Collins was nominated because he is a life long resident of Marcus. He worked as a teacher and coach for Marcus and MMC for several years before taking early retirement and currently works at Marcus Lumber. He served on the fair board for many years.
Jim Hoefling served many years on the Marcus Fair board. Jim raised a family in Marcus and farmed south of town for several years. He was very involved in planning the celebration of the Centennial fifty years ago. His family was the “best dressed” at the pageant.
Clark Rainboth has been active in the fair and as a school bus driver and farmer in our community. He raised his family here with pride.
Abe Smith grew up in the area and raised his three children here. Abe held many jobs in the community working for famers and companies such as Sand Seed, Rassel Trucking and Mormons to name a few. He enjoys socializing in town and waves at everyone he meets!
Ray Drefke “Doc” was a veterinarian in Marcus for several years. He and his wife raised three sons and were actively involved in their activities growing up. Ray was an avid golfer and bowler for years with his friends and is involved in various groups in town.
