MMCRU Participates at State FFA
By Rachael Beelner
On April 18, the MMCRU FFA Chapter went down to Des Moines to compete at the state convention. They ended up going to workshops, watching other FFA members from different chapters compete, and participating in career development events.
There are many competitions they could take part in at the state level. Some of the events our chapter did were greenhand test, farm business management, biotechnology, and chapter display. Members who did the greenhand test were Hannah Doellinger (silver) and Mason Peters (Gold). In farm business management it was Terry Lundeen, Victoria Ross, Audra Penning, and Kristina Goth receiving silver, and Kristina Goth placed 12th out of over 300 people.
In Biotechnology we had Rachael Beelner, Brynn Jones, and Kaden Neddermeyer receiving silver, and Kaden Neddermeyer placed 11th out of over 200 people. We also had a chapter display about composting made by Rebecca Jochims and she received a bronze. Regan Peters and Makenzie Meyer both received their Iowa Degree, which is one of the biggest awards you can get as an FFA member.
Brynn Jones talked about the state convention, “We had a great experience that became beautiful memories. People bonded and had a great time. It was a great team experience for the FFA chapter that made the FFA chapter stronger.”
Mrs. Schroeder added, “This year’s state convention contests went better than expected. As we always say after the contest, we wish we would have studied more.”
