Abby Van Maanen
Abby Van Maanen is the daughter of Richard and Trish Beelner. Abby has seven siblings who include Kayla, David, Hunter, Ryan, Josh, Jacob, and Rachael. Abby is the second youngest. During high school, Abby took part in a variety of activities. She has been involved in archery for the last three years of high school and has been in band for all four years of high school where she received the most improved award, the most dedicated award, and lettered. In archery she lettered once. She has also lettered in basketball cheerleading for one year in which she went to state for and received a medal. She was also in group and individual speech for a year. Her favorite memory is when Covid hit last year because we only had a half of a year of school.
In her free time, Abby likes to hang out with family and friends, watching Netflix, or sleeping. Abby’s favorite song is “Drivers License” and playing it on full volume. She is a big fan of the movie “Suicide Squad” and her favorite color is pink. Abby’s favorite school lunch is chicken nuggets with mashed potatoes. Abby’s favorite clothing item would have to be leggings.
Abby’s advice for underclassmen is do your homework on time and do not procrastinate. Her biggest fear is heights and the biggest pet peeves when people chew their gum really loud. Her favorite year of high school was her senior year because she had the most fun and tried new activities like cheerleading and speech.
She wants people to remember her by the girl who worked hard for her grades and was the band geek. Her greatest accomplishment was cheering at state basketball and going to state for speech. In the future Abby wants to be successful, get married, and have kids. Next Abby is planning on getting an apartment and working at Building Blocks, while maybe taking some online classes at WIT.
