MMCRU FFA Members Compete at Districts
By Rachael Beelner –
On March 6, the MMCRU FFA Chapter went to Harris-Lake Park to compete in districts. At districts there are many competitions you can try and see if you like them. Some of the things you can do there are quiz bowl, ag sales, public speaking, floriculture, conduct of meetings, and more.
You can even apply for district officer. This year we had one member apply, Regan Peters, and she was the first from our chapter to ever do it. Gunnar Grage and Mason Peters were both delegates on deciding district officers.
At districts the competitions they competed in were Farm Business Management receiving a gold. The team consisted of VIctoria Ross, Brynn Jones, and Rachael Beelner. Victoria also got first overall in this competition. In floriculture Rachael Beelner ended up placing fourth and Brynn Jones placed ninth, both receiving gold. Kaden Neddermeyer and Sophia Hohbach both got silver and the team ended up getting gold and placing third as a team.
In Public Speaking, Brynn Jones received a silver. In Chapter Program we had Victoria Ross, Rachael Beelner, and Kaden Neddermeyer receiving silver. In Nursery Landscape, Kaden Neddermeyer ended up placing eighth receiving gold. Rachael Beelner and Sophia Hohbach got silver and Brynn Jones received a bronze. They ended up getting silver as a team. Lastly we had Hannah Doellinger receive silver in the Greenhand Test.
Victoria Ross talked about districts and how it went, “It was a very exciting event, where you as a person can grow on leadership skills while having a fun time. I encourage others to get involved and try this out.”
