By Darley Carrillo
Caitlyn Evans is the daughter of Curtis Evans and Laurie McManaman. Caitlyn has one younger brother, Cody Evans. Throughout highschool Caitlyn has been involved in NHS, Student Council, Captains/Royals Impact, volleyball student coach, dance, track, softball, speech, plays, musicals, choir, and Catholic Youth Organization.
For awards, Caitlyn has received 5th in Class 3 Pom, Distinguished in Academic Achievement Award and has lettered in dance, participation award in track, I rating for Large Group State Speech, and a I rating for Short Film State Speech. She has also received an MMCRU Royals varsity letter in choir, and a participation award in madrigal.
During her high school years Caitlyn has worked at Burger Barn, the Golden Pheasant, and Bavarian Meadows as a dietary aide and resident assistant.
Some of Caitlyn’s favorite memories throughout high school has been senior year homecoming and being on homecoming court, seeing the football team win their first football game in three years, being able to see her brother in high school, Mr. Oswald’s jokes in class and calling her “Mavis,” making six word memoirs in Mrs. Bottjen’s class, trying new foods with Lukas Egginger from Germany, softball initiation, bonfires, and car tag nights.
During Caitlyn’s free time you will see her hanging out with friends and family, shopping, scrapbooking, watching movies, working out, and traveling. Caitlyn’s favorite movies are “The Notebook” and “Step Brothers.” Her favorite songs are “Rise Up” by Andra Day and “Chasin You” by Morgan Wallen. For lunch, Caitlyn loves bringing cold lunches, but if she were to choose to feast upon a meal at school, she would eat the school’s chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes, and crispitos.
Caitlyn’s advice for underclassmen is to treat every moment like it’s your last because you never know when it may be your last time playing a sport or being with someone. Get involved, work hard in everything that you do, push yourself to try new things, and to take your grades seriously. Caitlyn’s fears include losing people she loves most in life, heights, and getting stung by a wasp, hornet, or bee. Her biggest pet peeve is when people click their pens while doing homework and the sound a knife and fork make on a plate when you cut your food. Caitlyn’s favorite year was this year because she has experienced new things, found new friends, the whole senior class was involved in homecoming, and she got to have more freedom.
Caitlyn’s greatest accomplishment throughout high school has been being inducted into NHS and maintaining her grades throughout these four years, which has allowed her to receive Top Five Academic Awards. Caitlyn would love to be remembered as someone who always worked hard in everything she did, preserved through hardships, and someone who was always willing to help others in any way possible. In life, Caitlyn would like to accomplish having a good job, a family, a nice house, traveling a lot, and to help others as often as she can. Next year, Caitlyn will be attending Morningside University in Sioux City and majoring in psychology to pursue her career in guidance counseling.
