Letter To The Editor
As a 4th generation cattle farmer here in Cherokee County, I want to take the time during National Agriculture Week (March 21-27, 2021) and Ag Day (March 23, 2021) to thank our community for their support of agriculture. As farmers, we know today more than ever you have plenty of food choices at the grocery store. Yet many continue to fuel up with real meat. As someone who raises livestock, that makes me proud.
Our family works hard to raise animals that are healthy by keeping up to date with the best animal care practices and through our strong relationship with our local veterinarian. My wife and I feed our family the food we help produce, so food safety is a top priority for us—just like it is for many families. We choose to eat real meat because we know it is a great source of protein and nutrients our bodies need to thrive.
Because our family lives in this community, it’s also important to us to find ways to give back. That’s why we belong to the Cherokee County Farm Bureau board of directors, Washta Fire Department, and St. Mark Lutheran Church. Being an agricultural community is about more than what is grown and raised here—it’s about the strength of its people. I think we’ve got some great things going on and much to celebrate.
Sincerely,
Adam Glienke
Cherokee County Farm Bureau board director
