Cherokee County Farm Bureau Visits Local Libraries

The month of July libraries at Marcus Public, Marcus, IA, and MC Library, Cleghorn, IA have received visits from the Outreach Coordinator from the Cherokee County Farm Bureau Office, Karla Prunty. Karla made visits and read a book at each Storytime for all to enjoy. The goal of this outreach idea is to get out and provide the students in the area the opportunity to learn more about where their food comes from, life on a farm can be adventurous, farms have many animals that need proper care and recognize how much agriculture plays in our daily lives.
This concept is delivered thru special books that Karla has selected to read to the students. The featured books for this month have been Click, Clack, Moo Cows, Construction Site: Farming Strong, All Year Long, and a real favorite Millie Fleur’s Poison Garden. Along with the story, students are also given corresponding coloring/activity sheets that they can take home to enjoy.
Once the book has been shared at Story hour, the book is then donated to the library courtesy of the Cherokee Couty Farm Bureau.
