First Round Bye
The Royals had first round bye in bracket play in the Class 2A Region 3 as did the Ridge View Raptors. After an elimination round these two teams faced off in Cleghorn on Wednesday July 9.
The game was close through the 4th inning with the lead the 4th inning when the Raptors took a 1 hit lead over the Royals. The Royals led through 3 innings. The Raptors changed that in the 4th inning moving the scoreboard from a 5-3 deficit to a 6-5 lead. From there the Raptors expanded their lead each inning winning the game 13-6.
The Raptors put way more batters in front of the Royals’ Richardson, who pitched all 7 innings. She faced 39 batters against the 27 that Raptors’ pitcher Zoey Aschinger, junior, stared down.
Royals put 6 balls into play gaining 5 singles and a homerun by Sophomore Tia Tentinger. The Raptors 19 hits produced 15 singles, 2 doubles and triple and a homerun.
Richardson sent retired 5 Raptors and gave away 5 bases in the outing. Senior Breanna Staab put 2 runs on the board and Tentinger’s only hit brought in 4 runs.
The 2025 softball season ended for the Royals. The team had a great year and a high hopes for coming years with talented young players part of the team.
