Cherokee County Board of Supervisors Meeting
The Cherokee County Board of Supervisors met in special session on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 with Rick Mongan, Bryan Petersen, Duane Mummert, Cheryl Ellis and Dave Skou present. Ray Mullins, Paula Voss, Kent Ohlson, and Adam Glienke represented the Zoning Commission. Madeline Combs, Storm Lake Times, and Andrea McIrvin, KICD, represented the press. George Wittgraf, Ned Lundsgaard, Sarah Tracy, Steve Zarr, Stephanie Zarr, Ray Mullins Jr., Joel Ehrig, Kenny Schlenger and Sam Boothby were also in attendance. Unless otherwise indicated, all votes were offered as follows: Ayes – Ellis, Skou, Mummer, Petersen, Mongan; Nayes – None; Abstentions – none.
Chairman Mongan called the meeting to order at 10:30 a.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Motion by Mummert, seconded by Skou to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Kelly Puhrmann, Zoning Administrator, moderated the informational meeting pertaining to the Solar Energy System Ordinance Draft.
No comments from the public.
Board of Supervisors and Zoning Commission members discussed the current state of the Solar Energy Systems Ordinance Draft. Discussions included the size of total use area for Utility Scale Solar Energy Systems and setback distances.
There being no business to consider, Chairman Mongan called for a motion to adjourn the informational meeting.
Motion by Mummert, seconded by Petersen to adjourn the meeting at 11:15 a.m.
