Cherokee County Board of Supervisors Meeting
The Cherokee County Board of Supervisors met in regular session on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 with Rick Mongan, Bryan Petersen, Cheryl Ellis and Dave Skou present. Duane Mummert was absent. Erin Rydgren, Chronicle Times, represented the press. Kelly Puhrmann, Stu Hogg, Jodi Mongan and Stephanie Zarr were also in attendance. Unless otherwise indicated, all votes were offered as follows: Ayes – Ellis, Skou, Petersen, Mongan; Nayes – none; Abstentions – none.
Chairman Mongan called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Motion by Skou seconded by Ellis to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Motion by Petersen, seconded by Skou to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Motion carried.
Motion by Ellis, seconded by Petersen to approve the claims for payment as presented. Motion carried. A complete listing is available for review in the County Auditor’s office.

There were no comments from the public.
Kelly Puhrmann, County Engineer, presented a construction document for consideration and provided updates on current projects.
Motion by Petersen, seconded by Skou to approve a title sheet for Diamond 105 Bridge Replacement Project #BROS-CO18(94)--8J-18.  Motion carried.
Jodi Mongan, County Treasurer, requested tax abatement for one property.
Motion by Skou, seconded by Ellis to authorize tax abatement of $218.00 for Alewelt Inc, Clive, Iowa, for a mobile home that was moved out of Cherokee County in May (VIN# 1NADH01A07563MJ13).  Motion carried.
Motion by Ellis, seconded by Skou to approve a separation of employment and $9,695.70 final payout of vacation and hours worked for Sarah Tracy, County Engineer, effective September 13, 2024.  Motion carried.
Motion by Skou, seconded by Petersen to approve a separation of employment and $360.00 final payout of hours worked for Neal Rogge, Conservation Seasonal Labor, effective September 5, 2024.  Motion carried.
Motion by Ellis, seconded by Skou to approve a three year Agreement with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to provide space for Readjustment Counseling Service through the Sioux City Vet Center.  Motion carried. 
The supervisors provided committee reports and reviewed meeting schedules.
    There being no further business, Chairman Mongan called for a motion to adjourn the meeting.
Motion by Skou, seconded by Petersen to adjourn the meeting at 9:18 a.m.
