Floyd Valley Foundation Thankful for Continued Success
In recent years, the Floyd Valley Foundation has been honored to be the recipient of two large estate gifts as well as successful community campaigns to further our mission. The estate gifts and community contributions with the campaigns have been an integral part of the service expansion efforts with Floyd Valley Healthcare.
The Floyd Valley Foundation received a gift from the Dennis Groetken Estate in 2019. The nearly $1 million gift was bequeathed to Floyd Valley Healthcare for use in continued advancement of healthcare needs.
In October of 2021, the sale of Dennis Lundgren’s farm land also made a significant impact on the current expansion efforts taking place within Floyd Valley Healthcare. Mr. Lundgren bequeathed the farmland to Floyd Valley Healthcare in December of 2009. Per the Dennis Lundgren Trust, the sale and use of the funds from that sale were to be used to improve healthcare services in Le Mars and surrounding service area. The sale of the 223 acres resulted in a $2.5 million gift.
Both generous estate gifts have been used as designated to help fund the advancement of services at Floyd Valley Healthcare. This includes the recently completed Specialty Clinics and Therapy Addition/ Renovation as well as the current Maternal Health Department project.
“I continue to be amazed at the generous foresight that both of these gentlemen had in making sure that quality healthcare is offered in Le Mars,” states Dustin Wright, CEO. “The opportunity to utilize their gifts to provide specialty care and advanced therapies right in Le Mars would be something they both would have championed. In addition, keeping moms and babies close to home in a safe and pleasing environment is a great addition for our families. I am very thankful for their gifts and proud of our advancements because of Mr. Groetken and Mr. Lundgren.”
Earlier this year, the Floyd Valley Foundation completed a $1.2 million capital campaign to assist in the Maternal Health Renovation Project. “With community fundraising events, private donor pledges and business contributions, the campaign successfully wrapped up earlier this spring,” stated Amy Harnack, Foundation Manager. “We are so grateful for the continued support of The Foundation. The renovation project is anticipated to be complete in winter of 2024.”
“The Le Mars community is very fortunate to have an outstanding clinic and hospital to serve Le Mars and the surrounding communities. That can be seen by the level of gifts that continue to be pledged and given to the Floyd Valley Foundation. The work that the Foundation continues to do, to meet our goals, and to enhance the services brought to the patients of Floyd Valley Healthcare, is so important. Our community and local businesses have been an integral part of making sure that this work is able to be done, and done efficiently, and I am proud to be a part of this organization.” Kevin R. Eekhoff, Floyd Valley Foundation Board Chair
