By Elaine Rassel
I didn’t have to worry about not getting to the store before it closed on Monday night as the City Council meeting was over in less than 15 minutes!
The “Consent Agenda” that was enacted by one motion had besides City Council Minutes and Bills, five other items. (3) Resolution #23-42 “Transfer of Funds”; (4) Approve Resolution #23-43 “Resolution approving the (CAT) Community Attraction and Tourism Grant Agreement for the Marcus Community Clubhouse”; (5) Marcus Facade Incentive Grant Application for NW Press (sign for the former Casey’s building); (6) Marcus Facade Incentive & Sign Grant Application for The Hawkeye Lounge; (7) JEO Engineering Agreement for Trail. Items 4–7 were approved.
It was approved to change orders to the Marcus Community Clubhouse construction contract that Ten Corp. has.
A budget workshop will follow the January 8, 2024 Council meeting. There will be two new Council members seated at that January meeting.
Public Works report was given by Mayor Bunt as follows: Trail bids are due on December 19 and will be opened by IDOT (Iowa Department of Transportation). At this time we will know the cost of the Trail. Late work start date is June 3, 2024 with a 55 day work schedule. All the trees on the Trail have been cut down. During the construction period, the stumps will be ground up. The city crew is ready for snow as they have all the winter equipment ready!
There was no Police report at this time.
The Holiday Work schedule deals with 2 days off for Christmas and 2 days off for New Years—December 25 and 26—January 1, 2024-Jan. 2.
A Service Award was presented by Mayor Bunt to an outgoing Council member, Frangione, one of the two outgoing Council members. Councilwoman Enneking was not present to receive hers.
The regular meeting of the Marcus City Council was Monday, December 11, 2023 and held at 5 p.m. with Mayor Bunt presiding. Council members present were Ebert, Schmillen, and Frangione. Absent: Jenness and Enneking
