The 93rd annual State FFA Convention was held at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa, April 18-20, 2021. Eighteen members of the MMCRU FFA Chapter attended the convention, including seniors Terry Lundeen, Kristina Goth, Rachael Beelner, Victoria Ross, Brynn Jones, and Audra Penning. Juniors in attendance included Gunnar Grage, Regan Peters, and Makenzie Meyer. Sophomores were Carson Loutsch, Sophie Hohbach, and Kaden Neddermeyer. Freshman Hannah Dollinger, Hayven Hollingshed, Mason Peters, Owen Schroeder, Natalie Plagman, and Caitlin Olson. Members were able to sit in on contests, breakout sessions and a career fair. Members also competed in state competitions including, Farm Business which included of Victoria Ross, Audra Penning, and Kristina Goth, Kristina placed 17th overall, and the team received a silver. Ag Biotechnology received a silver as a team which consisted of Kaden Neddermeyer, Brynn Jones, and Rachel Beliner. Two Freshman, Mason Peters and Hannah Dollinger, competed in the Greenhand test as well. Mason received a gold rating and Hannah received a silver. Rebecca Jochims designed the chapter display based off of the chapter’s composting system, which receiver a bronze rating. The MMCRU chapter also had 2 juniors receive there Iowa Degree at the convention as well. Regan Peters received hers in beef production and Makenzie Meyer in goat production. The chapter is very proud of their accomplishments, and look forward to watching them continue to grow. The chapter was able to tour The Bare Bison ranch in Van Meter, to see their bison production. On Tuesday, the chapter was able to tour Iowa’s capital and had the opportunity to meet with Representative Tom Jeneary, Jim Carlin, Martin Graber, and Dennis Bush. This was a great opportunity for our chapter and they were very thankful to be able to tour the Capital and to climb to the top of the Capitol building. The chapter had a great and made many amazing memories at the 93rd Iowa FFA State Convention.
