Traveling Trunk Show
Remsen native Elaine Homan will be spotlighted at the Luxembourg Heritage Society of NW Iowa meeting during a special Plymouth County Historical Museum traveling trunk show program this Saturday, Jan. 14. The meeting will take place at 9:30 a.m. in the meeting room of the Remsen Public Library.
Administrator of the Plymouth County Historical Museum, Judy Bowman, and vice-president of the Museum’s board, Judy Stokesberry, will present the program, which concentrates on the Plymouth County homefront during WWII. Music, photos, and artifacts of the time will accompany the presentation. Both Bowman and Stokesberry are members of the Luxembourg Heritage Society. Stokesberry will portray Lt. Homan, and Bowman will re-enact Dickey Chapelle of Wisconsin, the first U.S. woman photojournalist killed in action.
Prior to the trunk show, the Society’s business meeting will focus on plans for the 2023 year, including discussion of possibilities for celebrating Luxembourgisch holidays such as Pretzel Sunday. A report also will be made on moving the Society’s genealogical materials and reference books to the Winterringer Genealogical Room of the Plymouth County Historical Museum.
The public, whether or nor of Luxembourgisch descent, is invited to both the meeting and the trunk show. Light snacks will be served.
