State Skills USA

This April, our SkillsUSA chapter brought 15 students down to Ankeny to compete in state SkillsUSA competitions. They were held on the DMACC campus. There, we had students competing in a number of different events. Not only were we competing, but we were also winning. With every first place gold medal we receive, is a trip to Atlanta Georgia to compete at nationals. Mackenzie Meyer, Gunner Grage, and Torey Tentinger competed in Promotional Bulletin Board and finished in first. Michael Rupp competed in Public Speaking finishing in first. Keaton Wieler competed in Technical Drafting and finished in first. Elizabeth Pederson competed in Related Technical Math and finished in second. Hayven Holingshead and Carson Lousch both competed in Individual Cabinet Making and Hayven finished with a gold medal. Mitchell Schnepf, Josh Wetter, Owen Alesch, and Brennin Stodden competed in Team Works and placed second. Cody Simons, Kaden Galles, and Dawson Pick competed in Welding Fabrications and placed first. Whether it was a group or individual competition our students managed to pull through. To say the least this was a very successful trip. The students were able to grow personal skills, meet new people, and show off their talents all while having fun.
