Staff Spotlight
This week’s staff spotlight is Amanda Olson. Amanda has been teaching for eleven years, but this is her first year teaching at MMCRU. She teaches Family consumer science at both Marcus and Remsen with grades 7-12. Amanda grew up in Dike, Iowa and attended college at Iowa State University. At ISU she graduated in Family and Consumer Sciences Education and Studies with an emphasis in Teacher Education, and Concordia University – Portland – Career and Technical Education. Amanda chose to be a teacher because she wanted to share her passion for FSC with students. She enjoys teaching because of the interaction she gets to have with students and fellow educators. The advice she would give students is “Give your best at everything you do and ask for help when you need it”. Something she wishes she would’ve been told in high school is “Your future will be nothing like you expect it”.
