From the Marcus Library
On Thursday, April 28 at 6:30 pm, Save Our Avian Raptors (S.O.A.R.) will present a program at the library. Please join us for an up-close look at some live birds and learn about the large raptors in our area. Hawks, owls, eagles, and kestrels are common in northwest Iowa and this will be a fascinating program! S.O.A.R. works with rehabilitation, education, and research for the majestic creatures in their care from their facility near Manning, Iowa. Everyone is welcome; young children should be accompanied by an adult.
Thursday, May 12 at 6:30 brings perennial library favorite Darrin Crow back to Marcus to present a historical program on The Underground Railroad in Iowa. Darrin’s programs are always interesting and well-done, and this one is perfect for adults and students. This set of stories focuses on the heroic citizens who helped hundreds of enslaved people find their way to freedom.
April 27 and May 11 bring LEGO Club after school (early out days). Kids are welcome to meet at the library at 1:30 pm for an hour of LEGO building.
Our Summer Reading Children’s Programs will begin June 8 and take place on Wednesdays at 1:00 pm. We have a great group of presenters this year, ranging from magicians to zoo animals to the insect zoo! Watch for more information on our Summer Reading events coming soon.
