MMCRU Dance

By Abbie Linn
This year there were 8 members on the dance team. The team performed at halftime of the homecoming football game and also at various basketball game halftimes. The dance team also performs at State Dance in Des Moines each year. This year the dance team won many awards at state: Team Academic Award of Distinction, 3rd place for Kick routine, and 5th place for Pom routine. Senior Asya Miller received 1st place in her class for solos. At Iowa State Basketball we had three dancers perform in the All-Iowa Honor Dance Team. Those dancers were Asya Miller who was part of the kick routine, Isabelle Olson, who was a part of the pom routine, and Kierra Gengler who was a part of the pregame performance. The dance season will end with the dance night that will be held on March 11th that features all of the past routines and also features the Royals Youth Dance Camp routines. Kayla Schroeder the dance coach says, “Each year I love being the MMCRU dance coach more! We placed in both routines at state, plus we were proud to have our soloist dancer place 1st in her class division. Additionally, we had three members qualify for the All-Iowa Honor Dance Team. As always we enjoyed performing halftimes for our home crowd. Overall it was an amazing season and I am very proud of each and every dancer!”
