Staff Spotlight
By Baily DeBoer
This week’s staff spotlight is Cory Spangler. He is currently a staff member at the Remsen building where he has been a teacher for the past four years. He teaches 7th and 8th grade social studies. Mr. Spangler grew up in Beemer, Nebraska and graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in broadcasting communications back in 1994. Growing up and starting college he had always wanted to be a teacher, but after the college experience his mind had changed. After trying the radio television industry and eventually the computer tech industry, he decided to circle back to the teaching career which was the best decision he ever made. He enjoys teaching because of the relationships he builds with students and being able to share life experiences. The advice he gives his students is to “Be kind, show respect. Don’t be afraid to try new things, no matter how difficult they may seem.” In high school he wishes someone would have told him to “not take life and your experiences for granted. Life will teach you much more than school ever will. But school is still important!”
