Staff Spotlight
This week’s staff spotlight is Mrs. Kelly Peters. She teaches 9-12 Mathematics in the MMCRU high school, where she is in her 15th year. She grew up in the Storm Lake area and continued her education at Buena Vista University, for a BA of Science w/ Mathematics focus.
Mrs. Peters wanted to be a teacher because she wanted to help students learn! She states that she was lucky to have some amazing teachers growing up and they inspired her to want to help students just like they did. “I love the moments talking with students whether it be in the classroom or out; and the light bulb moments when students understand something new.” Advice she has for her students is “Take your notes, do not waste time, complete your homework on time, study, and please ask questions. Time flies; enjoy the little things!” Something she wished someone had told her while she was in high school is “Truly I was told time flies so enjoy it – but I didn’t take them seriously. High school went really fast, not that I have regrets, I just wish I would have let time slow down and enjoyed the moments more.”
