The 12-10 Royals traveled to Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn High School Tuesday to face the 1 win Hawks. MMCRU was in need of a morale boost after losing 3 of their last 5. The Royals have earned themselves a playoff spot, and hold a winning record, but would like to go into the first round fresh off of a couple wins. The Hawks only win came over the winless Wolves of H-LP.
The Royals dominated the first set, winning it 25-4. Senior Emily Dreckman controlled the game all night, racking up 14 of the Royals 25 team kills. Seniors Kirsten Letsche and Taylor Harpenau combined for 26 assists.
The second set was a little better for the Hawks. HMS would score 16 points, but were still short of the Royals 25. HMS Freshman Abby Douma would get 5 kills against the Royals, and Junior Elise Haack had 11 digs.
The Royals made a couple mental mistakes in the 3rd set, but ended up pulling off the win 25-23. The Win moves the Royals to 12-10 (4-4 conf). MMCRU will face George Little Rock in Marcus for the First round of the playoffs.
