Election Notice
Notice is hereby given to the qualified electors of Cherokee County, Iowa, that a City-School Election will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. The polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Pre-registered voters are required to provide an approved form of identification at the polling place before receiving and casting a regular ballot. Voters who are not pre-registered – such as voters registering to vote on Election Day – and voters changing precincts must also provide proof of residence. A voter who is unable to provide an approved form of identification (or prove residence if required) 1) may have the voter’s identity/residence attested to by another registered voter in the precinct, 2) prove identity and residence using Election Day Registration documents, or 3) cast a provisional ballot and provide proof of identity/residence at the county auditor’s office by 12:00 P.M. on November 9, 2021. Election Day Registrant attesters must provide an approved form of identification. A public demonstration of the voting equipment to be used in this election will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, in the Election Office, next to the Auditor’s Office in the Courthouse, Cherokee, Iowa. The public is welcome to attend.
Voters must vote in their precinct of residence. Please read this notice carefully to determine your correct voting location. Voting locations have changed for some voters. The precinct polling places and addresses for this election are as follows:
Aurelia Community Center: 235 Main Street, Aurelia IA. (For voters in Afton, Diamond, Pitcher, Spring Townships & City of Aurelia)
Cleghorn Community Center: 102 W Grace Avenue, Cleghorn IA. (For voters in Amherst, Liberty, Marcus, Sheridan Townships & Cities of Cleghorn & Meriden)
Quimby Community Center: 109 N Main Street, Quimby IA. (For voters in Grand Meadow, Rock, Silver, Tilden, Willow Townships & Cities of Quimby & Washta)
Cherokee Community Center – Lower Level: 530 W. Bluff Street, Cherokee IA. (For voters in Cedar, Cherokee, Pilot Townships & City of Larrabee)
