Staff Spotlight
This week’s Staff Spotlight is Mrs. Alex Roberts. She teaches 9th and 10th grade English and Communications in Marcus High School. This is her seventh year teaching, first year teaching at MMCRU. She grew up outside of Calumet and went to school at South O’Brien. She continued her education at University of Northern Iowa for a degree in English Education. We asked her why she wanted to be a teacher and she said “I’ve always loved reading and writing and knew I wanted to work with kids, particularly teens.” We also asked what she likes best about teaching and she replied “I love building relationships with students and helping them become who they were meant to be.” Her advice she has for her students is a quote by Roald Dahl – “If you are interested in something, no matter what it is, go at it full speed. Embrace it with both arms, hug it, love it, and above all, become passionate about it. Lukewarm is no good.” Advice that she wished someone told her while she was in high school was “High school is such a small portion of your life. There is so much more out there after you graduate.”
