Kicking off the new school year for the senior spotlight is Mekhi Armstrong. Mekhi lives in Remsen with his dad, John Armstrong. After high school he plans on going to college to pursue an art degree.
Mekhi has always been known as a great artist here at MMCRU. You can find him drawing or sketching during down time in class, and he always showcases his impressive drawing skills. His favorite thing to do during his free time is what he’s best at: drawing, painting, making animations, and anything else art related. Mekhi is also one of those people who is very funny once you get to know him and will make you laugh with his countless jokes.
Armstrong’s favorite memories from high school were homecoming and several moments during speech. He says his biggest accomplishment during high school was getting steady grades throughout the years. His favorite year of high school is senior year because it is just starting and he has the chance to make it the best year yet. Throughout high school, Mekhi was thoroughly involved in the art program, along with track and speech.
Mekhi says his biggest pet peeve is when people don’t cover their mouth while coughing. He also has several fears, including heights and a mild case of claustrophobia. His favorite band is Daft Punk and his favorite movie is “The Suicide Squad”. His favorite school lunch is Mr. Rib and his favorite type of food is Indian. Armstrong also added some humor saying his favorite bean and internal organ are both kidneys.
His biggest advice to underclassmen is to not stress too much and to try your best. He wants to be successful in his career and live relatively care free as a life goal. Mekhi says he wants to be remembered for his talented art skills and his creativity.
