The Difficulty of Endings
Richard purchased “The Marcus News” in 2000. He leased it for a year prior. Twenty seven years is a very long time to last as a publisher. It is endless work. The demands are relentless and rewarding and frustrating and sometimes joyous. Like everything in life, it is a journey.
There are many things that have been considered for many months, even years in some cases, that have brought us to the decision that our time in the publishing business has reached its end.
There is so much appreciation and gratitude we have for so many. We are particularly appreciative to the faithful subscribers. Advertisers carry the weight of publishing a newspaper. During our tenure at “The Marcus News” advertisers have been so very supportive. A few have come and gone, but all were good to us. We are so appreciative.
A search has been underway for a buyer of “The Marcus News.” Neighboring publishers and local individuals and groups have been asked about keeping the News going. At this time, we have not found that magic match. At this time we a couple conversations are underway and still reaching out to others we find who might be the right fit. But as things are right now, the ending of “The Marcus News” has arrived.
This issue, April 16, 2026 is the final Peterson Patriot that we will print. Any group or individual wanting to see another issue of “The Marcus News” can contact me at 712-376-4712 for details. Or if you know of someone or a group who might be a good fit to carry on publishing “The Marcus News” feel free to contact me at the above number.
Thank you much for the more than 25 terrific years.
Richard and Mari Radtke
