Brandon Dreckman Receives Student Athlete Achievement Award

Each year, the Iowa Bankers Association presents the Student Athlete Achievement Award to student-athletes who excel not only in athletics, but also academically and in their communities. Brandon Dreckman, a senior at MMCRU High School, was presented with the scholarship award for class 1A at the Iowa High School Boys State Basketball Tournament held March 13 in Des Moines.
Dreckman was selected by the IBA’s scholarship committee based on his scholastic standing, leadership skills, community involvement and athletic participation.
Kyle Wester, President at Farmers State Bank in Marcus, presented Dreckman with a $1,000 scholarship to the college of his choice. “On behalf of the Iowa Bankers Association and Farmers State Bank, I’m pleased to present Brandon with this much-deserved award. Iowa bankers are proud to support education and students of Brandon’s caliber,” Wester said. “I know Brandon from his service with the Marcus Fire Department student program and I was honored to present him with this scholarship.”
For three decades, the IBA has sponsored the Student Athlete Achievement Award program, which has grown to honor student-athletes in football, basketball and wrestling. The IBA has awarded more than $370,000 in scholarships since the program began.
