Zub’s Shop Holds Red Ribbon

by Mari Radtke
Zub’s Shop has been in business in Sutherland, Iowa for nearing 30 years. They have been on a constant mission of growth all that time. They started in a small corner shop at the corner of Main and W 2nd St. Their first move was around the corner to larger digs in what had served as the garage for the former Sutherland elevator. That location served them for many years.
While there they purchased the gas pumps at Larrabee and added on-farm fuel delivery and tire service. In 2024 they purchased some highway property and built a car wash. During all of this it was becoming clear that the downtown gasoline location was proving to be pretty tight for all the traffic they were drawing to fill up. A self serve card pumping station was built with a small building with vending and restrooms. Great amenities for travelers needing a rest.
It was just a couple years and it was time now to construct the rest of that little building. A huge 4-door garage was built. One door is enter/exit. The equipped it to keep up with demand and staffed accordingly.
While Zub’s Shop is full service vehicle repair, they’re business backbone is tires. They even now offer 24-hour roadside tire service. And on Saturday they invited the community to share their good fortune. O’Brien County Cattleman cooked burgers and dogs and the staff found yet another way to serve.
