Cherokee Regional Welcomes New Provider to Cherokee

Cherokee Regional Medical Center (Cherokee Regional) is pleased to announce that B. Leonard Perkinson, MD, MSA, has joined the medical staff at Cherokee Regional as a family medicine provider.
Dr. Perkinson received his Bachelor of Science degree in exercise physiology from the University of Southern California. He went on to complete his MSA in Medical Science from Boston University and completed his formal education at the Boston University School of Medicine where he received his medical degree.
“I have spent my entire career working and serving in smaller, more rural areas,” says Dr. Perkinson. “I enjoy the closeness and welcoming nature of a small community. Cherokee and the surrounding area seem to be a great place where I can help make a difference in the community and enjoy a rewarding life.”
After receiving his medical degree, Dr. Perkinson completed residencies at UCSF Family Medicine and Natividad Family Medicine before an OB Fellowship at Natividad Medical Center in Salinas, California.
“We are so excited to welcome Dr. Perkinson to our experienced group of providers here at Cherokee Regional,” says Gary Jordan, CEO/President of Cherokee Regional Medical Center. “His experience in family medicine as well as OB will really be a benefit to our patients.”
Dr. Perkinson is currently accepting new patients at the Cherokee Medical Clinic as well as obstetrics here at Cherokee Regional. In addition to labor and delivery, he is also extensively trained in c-sections. In addition to his medical efficiencies, Dr. Perkinson is conversational in Spanish as well as English.
“I am very excited about coming here during this incredible time of growth and change,” says Dr. Perkinson. “I am very eager to get into the new OB unit especially. The idea of helping to grow the hospital and help serve the community into the future is very exciting. I am looking to help capitalize on the new state-of-the-art facility and grow the services here while caring for the community.” To learn more about Dr. Perkinson’s services or to schedule an appointment, call the Cherokee Medical Clinic at 712.225.6265.
