Cherokee County Board of Supervisors Meeting
The Cherokee County Board of Supervisors met in regular session on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 with Bryan Petersen, Cheryl Ellis, Dave Skou, Ray Mullins II and Shane Bellefy present. There were no representatives from the press. Chuck Stubbe, Tony Puffett, Maria Murillo, Jillian Cates, Ramona Nitz, Kelly Puhrmann, Derek Scott and Sam Boothby were also in attendance. Unless otherwise indicated, all votes were offered as follows: Ayes – Mullins, Ellis, Bellefy, Skou, Petersen; Nayes – none; Abstentions – none.
Chairman Petersen called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Motion by Mullins, seconded by Skou to approve an amended agenda to include consideration of a wage authorization. Motion carried.
Motion by Ellis, seconded by Bellefy to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Motion carried.
There were no comments from the public.
Kelly Puhrmann, County Engineer, provided an update on activities in the Secondary Roads Department.
Ramona Nitz, Cherokee County Soil and Water Conservation District Chair, requested an update on the status of a joint meeting with the Conference Board that oversees the Assessor’s Office. A lengthy discussion followed with no action taken.
Maria Murillo and Jillian Cates, Auditor’s Election Assistants, reviewed the November 4, 2025 City-School Election Second Tier results for the Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn Community School District including total votes from Cherokee and Plymouth Counties.
Motion by Mullins, seconded by Ellis to certify the Second Tier Canvass of 2025 City-School Election results as presented. Motion carried with details as follows:
Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn School – Director At Large (vote for two)
Russell Godbersen – 251 votes
Bill F. Sillau – 239 votes
Donald J. Mayer – 179 votes
Scattering of write ins – 4 votes
Derek Scott, County Sheriff, presented a wage authorization for consideration.
Motion by Skou, seconded by Bellefy to approve a $21.20 per hour wage authorization for Kaylee Petty, Full-Time Dispatcher, effective November 24, 2025. Motion carried.
The supervisors provided committee reports and reviewed meeting schedules.
There being no further business, Chairman Petersen called for a motion to adjourn the meeting.
Motion by Skou, seconded by Bellefy to adjourn the meeting at 10:07 a.m.
