SOS Faces Trinity Tigers For 3-1 Win
The South O’Brien Wolverines traveled to Hull to face the Trinity Tigers on their turf for a volleyball match on Tuesday September 30. The Wolverines came home with a 3-1 win.
Head Coach Amy Schmidt said, ÒWe got off to aÊgood start but then settled in to allow Trinity to play with us. We made some unforced errors along with many non-aggressive plays. Communication and getting our feet to the ball was oftentimes an issue. We fought back to win the firstÊtwo sets.Ó The Wolverines claimed those sets 25-23 each.
She went on to describe more of the match. ÒIn set three, we just couldn’t get things going forÊus with enough consistency to stay ahead and win the set/match. Blocking, which is usually a good area for us, was a bit of a concern tonight as we weren’t communicating well enough to put a solid double block together.Match blocks for the Wolverines were 4 including 2 solos. The Tigers took the set 25-18.
Ò”I was a little concerned in set four that we didn’t have enough energy to pull off the set/match but the girlsÊfought really hard to pull together for a good team win,” said Schmidt! ÒWe did a better job of adjusting our block as well as pursuing the ball. We covered the floor much better, she added. The last set scored 27-25 in favor of the Wolverines.
Schmidt said, ÒGreta had a better night setting and Abby Woodall did a good job of contributing as well. “The team shared 32 assists, 74 digs. Greta Hustedt led with 18. ÒI was pleased overall with our serving, 87 successes with 9 ace serves. Woodall led the aces. She went on, and defensive coverage, once we figured some details out.” The team attempted 135 kills, scoring on 36.
