Obituary – Thomas Robert “Tommy” Ginger

Thomas Robert “Tommy” Ginger, was born April 10, 1974, in Primghar, IA to Thomas L. and Connie L. (Prine) Ginger. He spent his childhood in Sanborn, IA, graduating with the HMS class of 1992.
In April of 1994, Tommy was united in marriage to Anne Koedam; they were blessed with three sons: Cody Robert, Cole Michael and Craig Scott. The union later dissolved. In October of 2006, he married Rachel Roos and welcomed another son, Carter Lee. He loved all his boys very much!
Tommy was known for his ability to repair or remodel just about anything; no job was too difficult for him to conquer. He was a hard worker and an expert welder. A favorite pastime of his was doing building projects with his son, Carter Lee. After being engaged in various jobs throughout his life, his focus eventually centered on being a camper technician. With 15 years of experience behind him, he started his own business – Camper Pro, where he was able to use his talents and grow the business, making new friends with every customer. He truly loved what he did.
Often referred to as the “celebrity” of his immediate family, Tommy was always cracking jokes and making everyone laugh. He was doted on by his three sisters and returned that love by teasing them…right up to his last moments! Anyone that really knew him, knew he could be a real stinker.
Halloween was one of Tommy’s favorite holidays. He enjoyed dressing up and scaring his family and friends – even if it meant wearing a dress or a real pumpkin on his head. Figure 8 Races were another event Tommy looked forward to and somehow, everyone got involved – even his Grandpa and Grandma Prine, and Aunt Pam would drive and hour to be there to cheer him on! It was a great time for all.
Following a short battle with cancer, Tommy passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior on Saturday, March 28, 2026, surrounded by his mother and sisters. He will be forever remembered for his huge smile and his ability to hold a conversation with anyone.
He is survived by his children: Cody (Leigha) Ginger of Mt. Vernon, IA, Cole (Destiny) Ginger of Spencer, IA, Craig Ginger of Sioux City, IA, and Carter Ginger (Macy Huisman) of Primghar, IA; grandchildren: Beckett, Bowen, Maverick and Sadie Ginger; his mother, Connie Ginger of Sanborn, IA; sisters: Tammy Ginger (Steve Lux) of Hartley, IA, Cristy Ginger of Sanborn, IA, and Wendy (Heath) Reitsma of Ankeny, IA; nieces and nephews: Haley (Caleb) Malenke, Heather Elgersma (Kaleb Visser) and Lacie, Luke and Bree Reitsma; great-nephew and niece: Jaxson and Sophie Malenke; several aunts, uncles and cousins; his best friend, Rose Sogn of Hull, IA; other relatives and friends; and his faithful companion, “Bandit”.
