The Cherokee County Legacy Foundation was formed in 2005 to coordinate and provide philanthropic support for community better projects in Cherokee County. Each year the foundation makes grant awards to worthwhile projects located in the county. Our Foundation’s areas of emphasis include Arts and Culture, Community Betterment, Education, Health and Human Services, Recreation and Youth Development.
The County Endowment Fund Program is a percentage of the commercial gaming tax revenues given to the counties in Iowa that do not have gaming revenues. Since 2005, the CCLF has given out almost one million dollars to organizations throughout Cherokee County.
The CCLF is also a donor driven public foundation whose purpose is to improve the quality of life throughout the entire county. The Foundation connects donors with their passions, fosters links between community organizations, and encourages community leaders to promote the common good.
