MMCRU Boys Track Places
2nd in MMCRU Coed Relays

On Monday, April 4th, the MMCRU Boys and Girls Track teams hosted the MMCRU Coed Relays in Marcus. This was the Royals first outdoor meet, and they performed well. The MMCRU boys placed 2nd in the Final Team Standings with 158 points, behind Kinglsey-Pierson/Woodbury-Central, who had 180 points. In this meet, the top 5 times or distances in the individual events receive a medal.
In the 100 meter dash, junior Gunnar Johnson placed 4th overall with a time of 11.90. In the 200 meter dash, junior Kaden Neddermeyer placed 5th overall with a time of 25.01. In the 400 meter dash, freshman Jace Colling placed 3rd with a time of 57.31 and sophomore Kyler Bork placed 4th with a time of 59.36. The Royals got 1st and 2nd in the 800 meter run, as junior Owen Alesch ran a 2:11.42 and senior Brett Staab ran a 2:12.43. Sophomore Kaden Galles placed 1st in the 1600 meter run with a 5:05.74, and senior Brayden Dirks placed 5th with a 5:20. Those two also placed 1st (Galles) and 2nd (Dirks) in the 3200 meter run, with times of 10:55 and 11:20, respectively. In the 110 meter hurdles, senior Colin Pick placed 3rd, and in the 400 meter hurdles, juniors Andrew Barinsky and Josh Wetter placed 3rd and 4th, respectively. The Royals 4×100 meter relay team placed 4th with a 49.15, and the 4×200 relay team placed 3rd with a 1:41.74. In the 4×400 meter relay the Royals placed 3rd with a time of 3:48, and placed 1st in the 4×800 relay with a time of 8:54. In the 800 sprint medley, MMCRU placed 2nd with a 1:43, and in the distance medley their relay team placed 1st with a time of 4:10. MMCRU’s 4×110 shuttle hurdle relay placed 1st with a 1:17 after KP/WC was disqualified.
In the field events, the Royals had participants in every event. In the high jump, freshmen Lucas Braun and Jace Colling placed 2nd and 3rd with jumps of 5’6” and 5’2”, respectively. In the long jump, freshmen Xander Tentinger placed 6th and Colin Pick placed 7th. In both shot put and discus, sophomore Mitchell Schnepf placed 4th. Boys head coach Colin Youde gave his remarks on the meet, “We had a great night at the MMCRU Relays Monday. We placed 2nd to a very tough KPWC team. Our distance and mid-distance athletes had a tremendous night by sweeping all their events. We also had a great showing from our sprinters. This team has a ton of potential and it is going to be a fun rest of the season.” The Royals head to Holstein for the Raptor Invite at Ridge View on Monday, April 11th and they go to Orange City on Monday, April 18th.
