National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Community Service Award

The Marcus Sesquicentennial Committee received a National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Community Service Award from Pilot Rock Chapter. This past summer Marcus celebrated 150 years during the Marcus Community Fair. This committee was responsible for the event’s success.
The committee now only planned the events, but they also raised funds to sponsor the event. They held a Christmas parade, Valentine’s dance, movie nights in the park, sold raffle tickets sold prints of buildings from the past , collected information and printed a History Book, and sold Sesquicentennial Merchandise.
The National Society Daughters of The American Revolution Community Service Award gives chapters an opportunity to recognize worthy groups in their communities for voluntary achievements. The recipients of this award must have contributed to the community in an outstanding manner through voluntary heroic, civic, benevolent service or by organizing or participating in community activities. To receive this award the chapter nominates a recipient, than forwards the application to the State Chairman who sends approved applications to the National Society in Washington DC which in turn issues the certificate and pin,
The Marcus Sesquicentennial Committee is indeed a strong supporter of the Marcus Community and very deserving of this recognition.
