NOTICE OF BOARD APPOINTMENTS
The Cherokee County Board of Supervisors is taking applications for one Civil Service Commissioner effective February 1, 2026 and two Veteran Affairs Commissioner appointments effective July 1, 2026. Cherokee County appreciates diversity in these appointments and welcomes all applicants at least 18 years of age. A brief description follows:
Civil Service Commission: Three member commission created and governed by Iowa Code Chapter 341A with duties pertaining to Civil Service for Deputy County Sheriffs. Six year term.
Veterans Affairs Commission: Members of the five person Veterans Affairs Commission must be veterans, preferably of different wars. The commission is responsible for approving payments for relief provided to veterans by office staff. Office staff is supervised by the commission. Meetings are held monthly. Three year term.
The Board of Supervisors is always looking for people interested in serving their community.
