We are excited to announce the upcoming THIRD annual MMCRU Middle School Science Fair, which will take place on February 16th, 2026. Our students in grades 5-8 will be participating in this event, showcasing their scientific knowledge and creativity.
While participation in the science fair is mandatory for all students, please note that competing is optional. We aim to provide a fulfilling learning experience for everyone involved. Thanks to the support of fundraising and sponsors, we hope to offer prizes for the eight categories designated at the state level.
The top projects from each category will have the opportunity to advance to the State Science Fair at Iowa State University on March 26 and 27, 2026. We will be sharing more information about the project winners in the coming weeks.
To make this event a success, we kindly ask for your support. We are currently seeking sponsors to cover expenses such as category awards and hotel stays for the state contest winners. If you or someone you know would be interested in sponsoring, please fill out the attached sponsor sheet.
On February 16th, we invite you to join us for the science fair in the Remsen gym from 5:30PM to 7:00PM. This will be a presentation-style fair, where students will stand by their display boards and be interviewed by judges about their projects. The display boards will be set up by 3PM for everyone to see during the afternoon.
We will also be holding an awards presentation from 7:15PM to 7:30PM to acknowledge outstanding projects. We encourage you to attend and cheer on our talented young scientists. Your generosity will directly benefit our students and enhance their learning experience. Thank you for your continued support in making our Middle School Science Fair a memorable and impactful event. We look forward to celebrating the achievements of our young scientists together.
There are eight science fair categories students pick to put their projects in. We want to provide a medal for each category winner and cover the cost to send the student to the State Science Fair on March 26th 2026 in Ames. Your name or company logo will be on the Medal as well as on the February 16th event program. We are also in need of judges for our event to select the winning individual or team. The eight categories are as follows:

• Animal Science
• Behavioral and Social Sciences
• Microbiology, Biomedical, and Health Sciences
• Chemistry
• Astronomy, Earth, and Environmental Science
• Energy and Transportation
• Engineering, Physics, and Math
• Plant Science
