Royals Advance in Football Playoffs

The Royals haunted the Gehlen Jays at home on Friday October 31. The Blue (goose) egged the visiting Jays in the second round 37-0. The Royals went to the locker room enjoying a 27-0 lead. Junior quarterback Eli Harpenau threw 7-14 passes for 129 yards and 3 TDs. Harpenau also gained 50 yards on the ground out of 177 RoyalsÕ russing yards, and added another TD. Senior Michael Schmillen grabbed 2 from the air putting 57 receiving yards in his column with 2 of the grabs being TDs.Senior Brayson Mulder carried 24 rushes for 118 yards with one carry getting into the house.
Defensively, Senior John Schmillen wasnÕt messing around. He marked 9 tackles out of 40 with 2 out of 7 tackles for loss. He shared a sack and recovered one out of 2 Gehlen fumbles. Also showing dominance, the Jays struggled with getting passes to their intended receiveers. The Royals took 3 interceptions.
Marcus Football Field is the site of the quarterfinals on Friday November 7 at 7:00pm. The 10-0 Royals will host the 10-0 Woodbury Central Wildcats.
