Obituary – Paul Rassel

Paul Edward Rassel, age 88, passed away on October 12, 2025 at home surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Marcus with Rev. Liz Pfeifle officiating. Burial will follow at the Amherst Cemetery in Marcus, IA. Visitation with the family present will be 10 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Marcus, Iowa. www.fischfh.com
Paul was born November 23, 1936 on a farm near Marcus to Frank and Fern (Peck) Rassel. Throughout his life, Paul touched the hearts of many with his kindness, dedication, and love for his family, faith, and community.
Paul was raised in Marcus on a farm and attended Holy Name Catholic School. He married Nancy (Thorborg) Rassel on February 17, 1958. The couple lived on a farm outside of Marcus, where they raised cattle and hogs. Paul then started his trucking career where he hauled many loads of livestock, grain and even brought back two moose from Canada. He was dedicated to his customers hauling for local farmers. He has put millions of miles under his belt.
Paul was involved in the Jaycees, Faith Lutheran Church, and the snowmobile club. He enjoyed spending winters in Florida, playing cards, and bowling. After retirement, he loved traveling and driving a grain cart during harvest. If you ever saw him, he had a toothpick in his mouth and a mischievous smile on his face.
Left to cherish his memory, includes his wife of 67 years, Nancy of Marcus, IA; his children, Mike (Jen) Rassel of Dothan, AL, Barb (Joe) Konz of Nashville, TN, Jim (Lori) Rassel of Marcus, IA; 7 grandchildren, Matthew Rassel, Jeremie (Katie) Rassel, Melissa (Matt) Napier, Stacy Konz, Joel (Erika) Konz, Cory Konz, Ryan (Kara) Konz; 7 great-grandchildren, Audrey, Amelia, Caleb, Corbin, Kylie, Chloe, Cooper; one sister, Norma Bushman of Montana; one sister-in-law, Elaine Rassel of Marcus, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles, Wayne, Floyd, Tommy, Lawrence; sisters, Mary (LeRoy) Brownmiller and Kathy (Harold) Johnson.
Casket Bearers will be Joel Konz, Ryan Konz, Greg Johnson, Jeramie Rassel, Caleb Rassel, Lee Brownmiller.
