Robert Meylor has sold his interest in the Meylor Dempsey Garage, Although the transaction took place two weeks ago formal announcement has just been made.
The Howard Knox bungalow located in the Barnes addition has been sold to Mr. Bruns, cashier of the First National Bank for $12,000.
Charles McConnell died Sunday April 22 in St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Sioux City.

A large group of friends and neighbors of Mr. & Mrs. Rasmus Juhl assisted them Sunday in celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary.
The Junior Farm Bureau, a newly formed organization for the young people of Cherokee County, will hold a second meeting in the Lewis Hotel in Cherokee Thursday evening.
Last week the legislature passed the “Homestead Act” with majorities in both houses.
Catherine Garvin, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. M.J. Garvin of Marcus, was one of the 79 persons included on the scholastic honor roll for the recently completed winter term of the Iowa approximated 3900 last year as compared with 3700 in 1933 and 6400 in 1932 the peak year in the history of the state.

Adrian Anderson, 69, passed away Tuesday night at his home in Marcus following a lingering illness of several months.
The Marcus High School will graduate a class of 35 at the commencement exercises Thursday evenign, Mary 23.
Delaney Brothers Store operated for the last few years by Ed Delaney, closed Saturday night after 44 years in business in Marcus.
Mr. & Mrs. Carla harder are the proud parents of a daughter born Sunday at the Sacred Heart Hospital in LeMars.
Mrs. Teresa McDonald , mother of the late Dr. R.P. McDonald, well known to Marcus and vicinity, died at Saint Anthony’s home in Dubuque on April 15.

Mrs. L.M. Miller, resident here for the past 27 years, passed away at her home Monday, April 16 following a stroke.
First Sgt. John L.Meylor son of Mrs. Mary Meylor, has been awarded the Silver Star Medal recently.
H.L. Martin, 77, of Grand Meadow township formerly of Marcus, passed away at his home Friday, April 13 after an illness of a month’s duration.
The senior class of the Marcus high School will present a three act comedy “Second Fiddle” Friday evening April 27 in the high school auditorium.
Relatives and friends called at the Stanley Birch home Sunday evening and surprised Mrs. Birch on her birthday.

Mrs. Josephine Schmitt, 78 a resident of Marcus nearly 50 years, passed away here Thursday, April 6 after a short illness.
The Marcus town council passed an amendment to Ordinance 162 at its April meeting making it legal to the IPS company to offer gas for heating purposes in the town.
At a general meeting of the holy Name Parish held recently the decision was made to go ahead with the construction of the long planned gymnasium and auditorium.
Funeral services for William Perry Jones, 70 of Boise, Idaho were held here Wednesday at two o’clock from the Nelson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gus Nelson was honored on her 87th birthday Tuesday when a group of ladies were present in honor of the event.
A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Roberts Meylor, Jr Sunday morning April 17 in Sacred Heart Hospital in LeMars.
JoAnn Jordahl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenmar Jordahl is one of the ten new pledges to Guidon honorary wokrmen’s auxiliary to Scabbard and Blade men’s honorary military fraternity.
The DeKalb bowling team of Marcus enjoyed steaks Sunday night at the East Side Cafe through the courtesy of the Hamm’s Beer team of LeMars. The two teams bowled that evening at Larry’s Lane here to see who would set them up and the Marcus team won by the scant margin of one pin.
Mr. & Mrs. Carroll Kuehn announce the arrival of a son born Tuesday April 19 in Sacred Heart Hospital in LeMars.

Karl Reinitz, 89, died at a Heron Lake hospital Saturday evening at 9 o’clock. He had been ill about ten days.
Mr. & Mrs Tom Hueser are the parents of a son born Thursday, April 14 at Sacred Heart Hospital in LeMars.
Susan Tregoning passed away at her home in Marcus Tuesday evening April 5.
Mr. & Mrs. Carmelo LaFalce and their two sons, John Joseph and Thomas, left Tuesday for Seoul, Korea, where Mr. LaFalce has been assigned for a two tour of duty. Mr. LaFalce is with the federal government doing public administration work in foreign lands.

Forrest Hiller, 71 of rural Pierson and a lifelong resident and farmer of the Grand Meadow area died Monday at Broadlawn Manor in Kingsley.
Mr. & Mrs. Max Drefke are parents of a daughter born Friday, April 16 at Sacred Heart Hospital in LeMars.
Jim Koch, who has been an employee of the Farmers Cooperative Elevator here for a number of years has resigned his position to accept that of assistant manager of the cooperative elevator at Clare, near Fort Dodge.
Mrs. Hans Rasmussen was honored Monday evening at a birthday dinner and party held at Hammers at LeMars.

A crew of men have been busy the past few days laying a conglomerate of 16 telephone cables from a point about 4 miles south of Marcus into the West Iowa Telephone Exchange here. When the project is completed Marcus will have long distance dial service all over the country.
Marv Ebert, Marcus building contractor, was elected chief of the Marcus Fire Department at its meeting last Thursday evening. He succeeds Roger Leavitt in that post.
Mr. & Mrs. Larry Mummert became the parents of their first child on Thursday, March 31.
John McKernan, who owned and operated the McKernan Store here for the past twenty years Monday announced the sale of the business to Ken Bryant who comes here from Plattsmouth scholarship.

Miss Alida Hobbs, formerly of Marcus, passed away April 8 at Long Beach California at the age of 87 years.
George Erickson, 91 of Marcus, passed away April 9, at Sioux Valley hospital in Cherokee.
Mr. & Mrs. Richard Murphy, 2733 Virginia Street, Sioux City, are parents of a daughter born April 4.
Mrs. Henrietta Tentinger was honored on her birthday at an afternoon luncheon on Friday, April 11.
The Strumming Strings, a musical group made up of Senior Girls Scouts from Sioux City, will be in Marcus Saturday afternoon April 19 to preform and teach songs for the Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts Troops.

Claude Grey, 80 of 201 South Locust Street, Marcus, died suddenly April 9 in Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital Cherokee.
Mr. & Mrs. Lyle Hinspeter of Marcus are the parents of a boy born on March 28.
Ron Seggerman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Seggerman of Marcus, was recently elected president of the Morningside College Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia music fraternity.
A former Marcus resident Mrs. Fred Zangger 82 of Cypress, California passed away on Wednesday, April 9.
Mr. & Mrs. Rogter Means of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma are the proud parents of their first child a boy, born Friday, April 4.

Mary Hanrahan of DeWitt, recently retired from Walker’s Dept Store as a bookkeeper. She has worked at Walker’s for more than 65 years. Her first day at work was in 1919.
