The day was Friday, August 12 and the time was 5:30 p.m. There were all kinds of “little people” by the Hall of Fame. What was going on? It was the youth Parade with all the kids anxious to show themselves off! This year there were four categories.
(1) What I Want To Be When I Grow Up. This had Ethan, Elliott, and Liam Dreckman. Parents are Matt and Caitlin Dreckman. They wanted to be Greatest Showman portraying the Circus.
There was a farmer showing a cow. (I did not receive any name for this.)
(2) Favorite Character…Superman was present. Colton Pettipier was wearing the red cape! He is the son of Nate and Sarah Bird. Grandparents are Pat and Linda Bird.
Princess Avora was present. One contestant was wearing a costume that was made 30 years ago by Agnes Bunt. Cinderella was in this category also. (I was not given any names for this.)
(3) On Wheels….We had the pleasure of having the famous “Golden Girls” pay a visit to the Marcus Fair! They were Halle Parker, Murphy Wallway, Hannah Hoefling, and Iyla Chnety. They are grandkids of Alan And Geralyn Hoefling.
We even had a famous candy bar visit us this year. The Twin Bing really looked like the famous candy bar as it was pulled on wheels past us. Stella, Sylvie and Theo Schultz were the bar and wagon puller. Parents are Tyler and Samantha Schultz. They are Bobbi and Greg Taylor’s grandkids.
On Wheels also had a Unicorn Security, Smores Clan, and Fast and Furious. (I did not receive any names on these entries.)
(4) MMCRU Spirit….Every event should have some Cheerleaders. Cheerleaders were Fallon and Veda Spieler. (They have parents, but I wasn’t given this.)
The Grand Prize Winner was GOLDEN GIRLS. The judges were Maddie (Phillips) Whitehead and Hailey (Loutsch) Letsche.
(If a winner wasn’t given, that entry still received ride tickets, etc. So, they really didn’t lose!)
The number of contestants was not as many as other years would have had. Maybe the hot weather had something to do with anyone getting ready for this Youth Parade.
